North East Qualifier

North East Qualifier

Go Ahead Training recently took part in the fantastic qualifying round of Vex’s Nothing but Net. This is the largest turn out for Vex in the North East in the history of the competition thus far. For the winners of this event it means that they are given the opportunity go to the regional qualifiers, potentially concluding, if they are successful, in competing in the world tournaments, which this year is taking place in Louisiana, Kentucky, USA.

The competition organised by Vex is called Nothing But Net, it uses the steel, claw style robots, to play a motor skills game that consists of using the robot to score differently shaped balls and coloured objects into nets of varying heights and difficulty levels, the combination of each being worth a different value.

During qualification rounds the teams placing first and second are the ones that get to advance through to the next round. The qualifying teams from the North East were teams Malware and Tanfield, both teams coming from Tanfield School in County Durham.

This event was organised by Vex was made in association with Gateshead College, Nissan and Go Ahead Training, together we will nurture the engineers of tomorrow by bridging the gap between schools, colleges and industry.
